Am I Swimming Fast Enough?

Through out the Scriptures is the mention of the Covenant of Peace. It is God's peace that we are granted and freely given when we walk in His ways.  It is a peace that can not be explained.

Philippians 4:6-7 'Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with  thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and  the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.'

Imagine you're a fish in a bowl that is being moved and tossed. Water splashes and churns.  The water is there, a source of life - it is the Living Water which holds you - it is God's peace. Yet, sometimes the water hurls and pitches as does life.

There is never a constant in our lives. It is an ebb and flow. An up and down. A descent and an ascent. It is in and it is out.  It is joy and it is grief. There are smiles and laughter and there are great big crocodile tears. Some things are hard to survive as the incident, whatever it may be, rips at our very core, making us doubt everything and everyone.  Some life events send us into complete praise and thanksgiving, other events make us want to lock ourselves in our closet and never come out.

But everything in life is an opportunity for us to gain. We gain information about ourselves, and others. We gain the insight to learn. We gain the wisdom to seek God, and we gain His understand, His grace and His peace.  We might gain a few more wounds, which in turn gives us opportunities to help others.  We gain friends, we gain losses, we gain strength. We can shrink or we can rise above it and go to The LORD in our confusion, sadness or even anger and wait. Wait for His guidance, His perfect love, His perfect peace.

I can't give myself peace.  Some days I can barely figure out how to balance the checkbook let alone deal with any drama that might be occurring. I would fail miserable if I didn't have God to turn to.

John 16:33 'These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.'

Psalms 55:18 'He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, for there were many against me.'
